When a loved one has experienced domestic or sexual violence, their trauma can begin to feel like our own. Even when our intent is to listen, care, and show compassion, we can only take on so much of another’s burdens. The result can leave us feeling helpless, depressed, detached, and even fearful. This condition is called secondary trauma, also referred to as compassion fatigue or vicarious trauma.
DVIS welcomes you to join us any Wednesday for our Secondary Survivors Group — a safe, confidential space to learn, grow, and cope. This group is best suited for non-offending family members, caretakers, or close friends of survivors of abuse.
We meet on Wednesdays, 12:30-2:00 p.m. at our main office on Apache. No reservations needed. Group is ongoing.
